geochemistry and petrogenesis of tertiary mafic dykes from taleghan, north iran
نویسندگان
چکیده
in taleghan, olivine basalt-basaltic andesite dykes as part of tertiary mamgmatic activities in central and western alborz zone, intruded into both karaj formation and late eocene-oligocene volcanic rocks. these dykes have similar geochemical characteristic which suggest that they are originated from a common source. on the primitive mantle normalized spider diagram, the dykes are characterized by enrichment of liles and depletion of hfses. in general, these rocks show geochemical characteristics of volcanic rocks originated from partial melting of metasomatized lithospheric mantles in active continental margins. on the other hand, post collisional magmatism and anomalous thin continental crust beneath the alborz zone confirm that extensional tectonic activities played a major role in this part of iran. in this model, the subduction related magmas were produced by partial melting of a previously metasomatized lithospheric mantle source developed by percolation of fluid-melt released from subducted oceanic slab.

Petrology, geochemistry, and petrogenesis of mafic dykes from the Kermanshah Ophiolite in Sahneh-Harsin area of Western Iran
The Kermanshah ophiolite complex is a part of the Mediterranean–Zagros–Oman Tethyan ophiolites, located in the structural–tectonic zone of western Iran in the northern part of the Zagros main thrust. Doleritic sheeted dykes are well exposed within the ophiolite in the south of Sahneh. These dykes contain high MgO, Na2O, low TiO2 (2O5, and K2O contents, and high FeOt/MgO and LILE/HFSE ratios. متن کاملsome characteristics of mafic dykes in gondwanan land from south of gorgan, northeastern iran: implication to petrogenesis and paleotectonic
the igneous dykes are a small mafic rock unit exposed in the south gorgan of eastern alborz, north iran. these mafic dykes are intruded in the middle–upper paleozoic sedimentary and metamorphic rocks units representing a part of the north gondwana province. the studied samples were collected from various locations along the exposed bodies. thin sections of these rocks show medium to coarse grai...
متن کاملMafic Dykes of Moyar Shear Zone, North Kerala, India: Emplacement History and Petrogenetic interpretation based on Structure, Geochemistry and Magnetic Fabric
Cretaceous mafic dykes in the Moyar Shear Zone (MSZ) area, north Kerala, India, provide signatures to probe into the nature of their source and thereby the evolution of the Mesozoic lithospheric mantle beneath the South Indian Granulite Terrain (SIGT). Bulk of the dykes in northern parts of Kerala is broadly in spatial association with the shear system. Mafic dykes striking NE-SW, NWSE, NNW-SSE...

introduction there are some theories about the paleotethys event during the paleozoic that have been proposed by geologists (metcalfe, 2006). some scientist offered some pieces of evidence about the northern margin of gondwana (zhu et al., 2010). the paleotethys ocean and hercynian orogenic report first in iran, have been offered from the morrow and misho mountain (eftekharnejad, 1981). misho m...
متن کاملDetailed Geochemistry and K-Ar Geochronology of the Metamorphic Sole Rocks and Their Mafic Dykes from the Mersin Ophiolite, Southern Turkey
The metamorphic sole rocks at the base of mantle peridotites from the Mersin ophiolite consist of amphibolites and metasedimentary lithologies. Mineral parageneses in the metamorphic sole rocks exhibit amphibolite and greenschist facies assemblages. Geothermobarometric studies based on mineral assemblages and chemical compositions of minerals indicate that average metamorphic temperature during...
متن کاملGeochemistry of Lavas from Mauritius, Indian Ocean: Mantle Sources and Petrogenesis
Trace-element and Nd-Sr-Pb isotopic data for mafic lavas from the Mascarene island of Mauritius reveal that the shield-stage Older Series (with 143Nd/144Nd = 0.512827 to 0.512853, 87Sr/86Sr = 0.70412 to 0.70433, and 206Pb/204Pb = 18.771 to 19.024) is geochemically very similar to the shield-building lavas of the younger island of Réunion. The post-shield Intermediate and Younger Series lavas of...
